Christian Vocation never unfolds in isolation. Christian Vocation always unfolds in the context of community. Community connections, both within and beyond your local faith community, are an essential element of support for your unfolding vocation. As you “build the nest” to support your vocation, begin by intentionally nurturing community connections. Reach out and connect with others--bishops, priests, deacons, and lay people--in your local church and in the wider Church. Reach out and connect with others in your particular area(s) of interest. Reach out and connect with potential mentors, colleagues, and other co-conspirators, both within and beyond the Church. Listen carefully to the stories of other people, and the unfolding of vocation in their lives.
You might begin your journey of connection by watching a few of the “vocational interviews” below. In these videos, priests, deacons, and lay people in the Diocese of the Rio Grande (and beyond) share their personal experiences and theologies of Christian vocation. We share our vocational journeys in order to support one another in discerning God's ongoing call to each one of us. As we listen to the vocational stories of others, we begin to understand our own vocational stories in new ways.
