In partnership with Harmonic Kids, Albuquerque's only licensed Music Together Center, St. Mark's is now offering Music Together Family Classes on a sliding scale/pay what you can basis! Music Together classes at St. Mark's will be taught by St. Mark's own Mother Sylvia, who is a registered Music Together teacher.
St. Mark's is thrilled to be partnering with Harmonic Kids to offer affordable Music Together Family Classes, because we believe that the practice of music-making is an integral part of the spiritual, physical, mental, and relational health of all people--young and old-- and we want to support health and music making in all families!
Music Together is a unique, research based, music and movement program designed especially for young children (ages birth-5) and the grown ups who love them! (In Music Together Family Classes at St. Mark's, we welcome the active participation of older siblings, godparents, and other members of your extended family/church family as well.) Music Together classes support very young children in developing basic musical (tonal and rhythmic) competence. More important, Music Together classes support children in developing a life long love of music. By actively and intentionally supporting the musical development of young children, we are also supporting their spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Learn more about Music Together's history, philosophy, research, curriculum, and benefits here.

About Mother Sylvia
I have been singing and dancing for as long as I can remember. I love to empower grown ups and little ones to discover and delight in their natural human potential to be creators: artists, dancers, and music makers!
I delight in music-making with my own three kids (now ages 8, 10, and 14) in all sorts of ways, especially singing at church and with the ABQ Choir Magic intergenerational community choir. I also enjoy supporting the growth of spiritual communities through song as a Music that Makes Community presenter.
I hold a BFA in Ballet Performance from the University of Utah and an MA in Theology and the Arts from Pacific School of Religion. I am an ordained Episcopal Priest, and am honored to support the spiritual exploration and growth of all kinds of families at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and St. Mark’s Montessori School in Albuquerque, NM.

Music Together Research & Resources
Parents and caregivers can access tons of excellent resources on the Music Together Family Music Zone website.
Below are some excellent resources to get your started:
Music is a powerful resource to strengthen family bonds, smooth transitions and support daily routines with your child at home and beyond. Sharing a nightly song and story before "blowing out the lights" for a lullaby and prayers can be a great bedtime routine for children and the grown ups who love them. Music Together has created 10 Music Together Singalong Storybooks that are available for purchase from the Music Together Store online. Every time children come to a Music Together family class at St. Mark's, they are invited to borrow one book from Mother Sylvia's "Song and Story Lending Library", which includes several Music Together Singalong Storybooks, as well as a number of other song and storybooks (see below for some of the "song stories" we have in our library.)
